Mom-trepreneur With A Big Heart Bringing High Fashion To Missouri
by Elisabeth Kuebel Cutshall
I have recently had the privilege of meeting one of the most amazing women in the St. Louis/St. Charles area, and she just happens to be a fellow fashionista.
Ola Hawatmeh is a local fashion designer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, who was voted best dressed in high school. She also owns OLA Style, Mom Me Makeover, M3 Models, and Makeover For A Cause. Saturday evening, I had the chance sit down and chat with this lovely lady and I can honestly say she has changed my life. We both agreed that we have no clue how our paths haven’t crossed before.
Ola went to Marist College in New York, while also attending Vassar in the theater program. After graduation, she began working for Fox as a talk show producer. From there, she began modeling in runway shows. She met her husband on a trip to Los Angeles, where she was a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding. She was married at the age of 21 because she just knew he was the one.
After getting married, they moved to St. Louis, where her husband has family. There they started a family of their own. After becoming a mother, Ola began writing a children’s book about manor’s based on the Golden Rule and did lectures at Barns and Nobles. While doing this, she realized that children’s manor’s come from their parents, and that’s how she came up with Mom Me Makeover. This amazing company teaches women to find inner beauty by giving them outer beauty. After the success of Mom Me Makeover, Ola then founded Makeover for a Cause. This is a foundation that helps women who are homeless, battered, or even cancer survivors.
Not only does Ola have a successful company, she also runs M3 Models, and has her own fashion line, Ola Style.
I was fortunate enough to attend a charity fashion show Ola Style put on September 23, and I must say, her spring line looks fabulous! Her long flowing dresses were inspired by her Middle Eastern culture and growing up in New York where she was featured in New York Fashion Week.
In 2009 Ola brought the very first Fashion Week to St. Charles. That’s right ladies, we have this wonderful woman to thank, for bring fashion over the bridge!
And most importantly, Ola is a wife and mother. She has three adorable boys and an amazing husband. With all of Ola’s amazing accomplishments, her family is number one, and I think that may be my favorite thing about her!
